Movie Review of My Name is Khan

“My Name is Khan” is a very heart whelming story of a Muslim who has been judged because of his religion but despite of the bullies and circumstances, Khan has remained true and kind person to everyone. Though Khan is not normal he still proves that life can be worth living for.
The movie leaves us viewers a message that we should not compare one person to another because everyone has unique abilities and perceptions even if on the other hand they have the same culture and beliefs. As the famous saying says “don’t judge the book by its cover”, we can never tell how well can the person be and how he sees the world unless we reach out to them.
It is an awful thing that it needs to sacrifice one dear person before other person values your call for innocence. It is so hard to fight for our rights when on the first place you have already been judged and that you can  do nothing but to prove more yourself. Khan, once stumbled yet continues to walk for his journey because he believes he can go for his goal (to meet the President) even if he left his wife, even if Sam left him and even if all the people would fear him because he is a Muslim. When nobody listens to him, he still tried to be human to those who persecutes him.
I admire khan so much because despite of big discrimination, he still stands. I remember also when I was an elementary student I had Muslim classmates and in my thought they are bad persons and that I should not make friends with them, later did I realize I was wrong I have judged them, like us they are just human also and that not all of them are bad. Yes they have strong personalities which makes them not approachable in the eyes of many, still they can feel pain and hurt. Until now I have kept my Muslim friends and they are good friends of mine.
Prejudice should not be applied anywhere and anytime it makes you close your doors for no valid reasons. Catholics or Muslim as long as we believe in one God, whatever the name, we make good deeds not just for ourselves but also for others, we remain to be good persons then others won’t have the right to judge us.

My Chosen Piece of Literature

Literature has indeed affect our lives in such a way that we can express ourselves through our written works and same with our literature’s effect to other people. If we read those pieces we will be really amazed of how does one’s mind work.
Among the different pieces of literature, one I can’t forget is the story of the Gessler’s brothers the story was entitled “Quality” by John Galsworthy. John being the author is also the narrator of the story, he is a fan and buyer at the Gessler Brother’s shoe shop, he describes it as where beautiful creation of boots came from- the pair of pumps, so inexpressibly slim, the patent leathers with cloth tops, making water comes into one’s mouth; the tall brown riding boots with marvelous sooty glow these are just some remarkable expressions of the products at Gessler’s shoe shop. Its owner also don’t            have any sign of luxury in living even if they made any for the Royal Family.
There was once when John had occasion to say to Mr. Gessler that the last pair of town walking boots creaked, Mr. Gessler looked at him waiting for him to withdraw his statement but when he knew it was for real he then get it nodding and studying the shoes’ problem. John felt sorry for this grave thing, he could imagine the sorrowful long curiosity of the old man with the creaked boots. Later, the old man said “these are not my boots, this are taken by advertisements not by works, they copied it from us.” However, the man still made recover the shoes’ problem.
After two years he is still convinced buying another pair of boots to Gessler’s shoe shop for after all that he’d been wearing the boots since he left for abroad they’re still not even half worn out. And when he came back he still want another pair of boots. Then the old man told him the news about his brother’s death.
When his boots arrived, one by one he tried it on and no doubt in shape, in fit, in finish, and in quality of leather   they were the best he ever made with price still the same.
A week later, he planned to visit Mr. Gessler to tell how splendid those new boots are but when he came to the shop his name was gone, he ask for Mr. Gessler to the young man with an English face there but instead he gave him a strange ingratiating look. He asked again for Mr. Gessler but the young man’s answer was “dead” , he’s dead, John answered hastily, but I received the boots from him last week, then the young man said ‘a shockin’ way to go go, poor old man starved himself.’
Slow starvation the doctor called it. He went to work in such a way and wouldn’t have a soul to touch his boots except for himself. When he got an order, it took him such a long time so that people won’t wait, then there he’d sit goin’ on and on. He was sittin’ over his boots day and night to the very last. “He really made good boots” the young man added . Yes, He made good boots the narrator replied.
The story is about putting our heart and soul in everything we do, not actually on the extent of starving ourselves but the dedication in our job, as the saying says “Chose a job that you want and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
It also tackles the works of advertisements now to endorse their products, still products loses the quality because it’s more on the beautification of the outer layer than the most important, the content of the product itself. Many of us are still blinded by what our eyes could see and neglect what our hearts says.
In the perspective of the Mr. Gessler his customers need is far more important than the money that he could get from them, he then proved that business isn’t just for the investment of money but for molding also ones dedication and integrity.
I can’t forget this story because it reminds me that a job with passion whatever it is, is worth doing and worth giving our time and effort with.
